WOW! August Just Blew Me Away!
The month of August just blew me away! We've had so much going on at our Austin Dog Training Center, I have COMPLETELY neglected our dog training weblog. So, let me update you on what's been happening with us and then I'll put up some training tips posts!
Well, in the middle of the busiest month we've ever seen at our Austin Dog Daycare, my trusty computer, which admittedly has worked for me for way too long, completely died and couldn't be revived. After valiant efforts, I decided to let it go and I bought a new Fujitsu Laptop. I LOVE the laptop. I have wireless now and tons of speed and memory so I can get all of the website work done in half the time it used to take and get back to training dogs! I also, by the way, love my Kaspersky virus protection (it shows me emails before they come into my system so I can choose what to accept and what to reject) and I love the Google desktop (it has some very cool functions - check it out!).
We've also had an adorable little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy doing board and train with us, so I've been a tad sleep deprived this month. Luckily, he's now sleeping through the night without a potty break and we're prepping the adorable little guy to go back to his mom at the end of the week. I'll miss his cute button nose, though!
Let's see, what else? We have a new apprentice trainer all the way from New York City. Steve joined our other apprentice Karen, who has been with us for a few months. They'll work their way up through the apprentice dog training program to be lead trainers in our facility. Which is a good thing, because the basic canine manners classes also grew like wildfire this month!
Long time client, Jack the Irish Terrier welcomed his new baby brother, Trajan Alexander, into the world last week. Jack is reportedly doing quite well with Trajan (mom and dad prepped for the arrival by reading up on dogs with babies and getting Jackie used to a new routine like laying on a mat in the baby's room). Jack brought Trajan in to see me at the training center today - he is absolutely beautiful! He almost makes me wish we did daycare for children!
We won an award for Best of Citysearch in pet services (see our website to view the award) and I was appointed as the Chair of the Strategic Task Force for the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants.
What are our goals for September? Just keep up the pace and get a tiny bit more sleep!
Cara, a very tired but completely content and happy in life Dog Trainer.
