Recommended Authors

There are an endless number of books about dog training.  Below are some of my favorite authors and some of the books and DVDs I recommend:

Dr. Patricia McConnell - She has so many useful books and DVDs, it's hard to name just a few.  I don't think you could go wrong with any of them.  If you need info about general dog training and excellent material on communicating better with your dog, choose either the book or DVD version of Both Ends of the Leash.  For multiple dog homes, I highly recommend Feeling Outnumnered (buy BOTH the booklet and DVD - the booklet gives more information than the DVD but the DVD shows how to do everything - they work best together). 

Jean Donaldson - The Culture Clash should be required reading for all dog owners, particularly puppy owners.  If you are bringing home a puppy, order the book and read it immediately! 

Terry Ryan - Outwitting Dogs and The Toolbox for Remodeling Your Problem Dog are great - Outwitting Dogs is probaby more up-to-date.
